BAYOU VISTA — State wildlife officials said Thursday that five people were hurt when two jet-skis collided on Bayou Teche.

One of the watercraft had three people aboard while the other had two, the state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries said. All five were in the water when first responders arrived. A passerby on the water was able to retrieve all five from the water and ferry them to land.

The wildlife agency said injuries ranged from serious to critical in the Wednesday night crash. Two were transported by Airmed and one was taken to a hospital by ambulance.
