BATON ROUGE - Officials are responding to a train hitting a person on North Foster and Choctaw drives, officials told WBRZ.

Emergency officials received the call around 3:30 p.m., and one person was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The Federal Railroad Administration lists the North Foster Drive crossing as the 325th-most dangerous in the state, among more than 2,700 crossings. Of the 136 crossings in East Baton Rouge Parish, the intersection ranks 29th.

Rankings are based on the types of warnings, the number of trains per day and average daily street traffic. While the North Foster Drive crossing has warning lights, there are no gates. The crossing sees an average of seven trains per day with more than 13,000 vehicles passing through daily, according to the Federal Railroad Association. Trains must adhere to a 20 mph speed limit through the area.
