NATALBANY — Starting Monday, Old Genessee Road about half a mile west of U.S. 51 will be closed as crews work to replace a bridge along the road. 

This will take about six months, Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller says. 

"The project will be completed using funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. These federal funds are administered through DOTD, with the parish contributing additional local funds to support the project," Miller said. "While it will create an inconvenience for residents in the Genessee area over the next several months, the community will truly benefit from a new, modern, and safety-enhanced box culvert bridge."

This is the second replacement of a bridge along Old Genessee Road, with the first one happening just east of U.S. 51. This started in August.

Both projects cost a combined $2 million and are among several bridge projects being completed across Tangipahoa Parish.
