Negligent homicide charge filed in Opelousas fatal dog attack

OPELOUSAS — A woman has been arrested after two of her dogs fatally attacked a man in the street, according to the Opelousas Police Department.

Officers responded to the 600 block of South Court Street at around 12:02 a.m. and found an unresponsive man in the street. Paramedics attempted life-saving measures but were unable to revive him.

Investigators determined the man had been attacked by two dogs belonging to Kimberly Faulk. Following the investigation, Faulk was arrested and booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail. She faces two counts of unlawful restraint of a dog and one count of negligent homicide.

The victim's identity is being withheld until his immediate family has been notified.
