Livingston Parish Public Schools open new $22 million junior high school
WALKER - A new junior high school campus has opened in Walker, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony being held Thursday morning.
South Fork Junior High serves grades six through eight and replaces Walker Junior High School. The new campus cost $22 million and spans 80,000 square feet.
The school features a Broncos mascot, a gymnasium, a band room, modern classrooms, modern electrical and lighting services, a library and a dedicated room for computer science. It shares a cafeteria with the neighboring South Fork Elementary campus.
"It's a beautiful facility, been in the works for a couple years. It has a playing gym, band room, state-of-the-art classrooms, just a beautiful facility. I think kids will be very excited; I think the community is very excited to see that project wrapping up," Superintendent of Livingston Parish Public Schools Jody Purvis said.
