BATON ROUGE - A worker at a Neighborhood Walmart was stabbed several times after he tried to break up a fight in the store's self-checkout line.

According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, Latasha Williams said she was upset with the lack of upkeep and customer service at the store on Coursey Boulevard and got into an argument with some employees about the lack of bags at her self-checkout kiosk. When the victim tried to intervene, Williams, armed with a box cutter, attacked him.

Willaims told deputies she only stabbed the employee once in the arm before fleeing the scene. Further inspection of the victim's wounds and security camera footage shows he was stabbed multiple times in the abdomen.

Authorities found Williams not long after the altercation using witness descriptions of her vehicle and cell phone video showing her face. She was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count of Aggravated Second-Degree Battery by committing battery with a dangerous weapon.

The victim is in the hospital being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
