Coming off year of water woes, Killian elects new mayor and most of council; some incumbents out
KILLIAN — The town of Killian, which last year suffered through several problems with its aging system, selected Caleb Atwell as its new mayor.
Ronald Sharp, who presided over town business last summer as the community endured slimy and discolored water, was not on this year's mayoral ballot, but ran for an alderman's spot.
Voters also selected four aldermen — Corey Beasley, Wesley Bignar, Nicholas Guthrie and Sharp.
Trevor Clardy was the next-highest vote-getter but did not have enough to win outright. Bryce Felps and incumbent Kimberly Gill had the next highest totals.
Guthrie is not affiliated with a party; the other three winners are Republicans.
Two incumbents on the ballot, John Henry and Leon Vicks, were defeated.
