BATON ROUGE - Pennington Biomedical is hosting its annual Men's Health Summit to raise awareness and test for medical issues that primarily affect men. 

It's a one-shop stop, where men can get free health and cancer screenings, vaccinations, and even donate blood.

"First of all, everything is free and we're going to have a bunch of screenings for men. We're going to be testing for prostate cancer, different heart things, we're gonna do EKG's, blood pressure, blood glucose. We are also going to offer free food, free lunch and breakfast. We will have free door prizes as well," Event Coordinator JD Lovelace said.

Registration for the event is still open and over 400-men are currently signed up.

The center is asking for volunteers to help out with the event.

"It's important because studies show a lot of men aren't excited to go to the doctor. there have been studies that show half of men don't even go to the doctor. so we're providing a place for educational talks, educational sessions and blood screenings that will allow you to get your foot into the door for health information you probably need already," Lovelace said.

For blood glucose screenings, fasting is not required, but eating or drinking in the 9-12 hours prior to your test could affect the accuracy of your test results.
