BATON ROUGE — One person has died, with another four injured following a Saturday afternoon shooting on North Ardenwood Drive at the Renaissance Gateway Apartments.

According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, officers arrived on the scene around 4:43 p.m. to find four people suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to a local hospital, where 22-year-old Latrell Trumble was later pronounced dead. 

The other three victims are expected to survive their injuries, according to the department.

During the investigation, detectives learned that a 14-year-old juvenile was also struck by gunfire before being taken to the hospital by a family member with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Officers said the shooting likely resulted from an ongoing dispute originating from Friday night involving multiple verbal and physical confrontations between two groups of people, with officers responding to several prior disturbances involving both groups. 

The investigation remains ongoing.
