HOUSTON, Tx. - Former LSU pitcher Paul Skenes made a memorable World Baseball Classic debut as the Pittsburgh Pirates ace picked up the win as Team USA beat Mexico.

Skenes struck out seven batters through four innings of work without allowing any runs. The Americans are now 3-0 in pool play.

BATON ROUGE - Just a few weeks ago, LSU baseball was undefeated at 8-0 and looking like the best team in the country. Since then, the Tigers are 4-5 with losses to McNeese, Northeastern, UL-Lafayette and Sacramento State.

Tonight's loss to the Hornets looked similar to the losses that preceded it. The Tigers offense went cold. LSU didn't score a run until the seventh inning and managed only six hits in the game.

BATON ROUGE - After a full 40 minutes and three overtime periods, Max Mackinnon carried the ball up the court. The Tigers trailed by three. Mackinnon found a lane, pulled up, and missed the open three.
